Spoonful

Safety is the product

Vulnerable people are targeted precisely where help is offered. Spoonful is built assuming someone will try — and making it hard, slow and traceable.

Members only, from the front door in

Nothing about a member is visible to the outside world. Profiles, asks and the member directory can only be opened after you sign in, and messaging and offers of help are members-only too. Identity checks are planned but are not running yet, so no badge here means anyone's ID has been checked.

Members are chronically ill too

Spoonful is peer-to-peer by design. Joining means describing your own condition and what you need. There is no one-way helper role for outsiders to occupy.

Approximate location only

Profiles and asks show a neighbourhood and a rough distance. Your street address is revealed only after both people confirm a specific plan — and it can be revoked.

First meetings stay in the open

We ask every new pair to meet at a doorstep, a café or on a call before anyone comes inside, and to tell someone they trust where they're going.

What someone without an account cannot do

  • Browse the member directory
  • Open a member's profile
  • Read asks for help
  • Offer help to anyone
  • Send a direct message
  • See any part of the community feed

Spoonful is in beta. Identity checks, care circles and money-safety rules are planned but not running yet, so please use your own judgement and keep first meetings public.

Report in one tap

Report from any message, profile or ask. Reports are read by a human within 24 hours, and the person reported is never told who flagged them.

Block is total

Blocking removes you from their search results, hides your asks and cancels any shared plan. No notification, no explanation owed.

Patterns, not just incidents

Moderators can see a member's report history, hide content and pause an account. Tell us when something feels off — pushing to move off-app, gifts followed by requests for money, pressure to meet alone — even if no single message crosses a line.

Money never moves through Spoonful

Members can reimburse ingredients directly, but there is no payment feature, no tipping and no fundraising. Any request for money, loans, banking details or power of attorney is a reportable offence and ends the account.
